Poverty. Such a grueling word don't you think? So many hidden emotions, meanings, feelings. Poverty symbolizes struggle, sadness, and desolation. If you live in poverty, you're often malnourished, don't have many belongings, and even homeless. What a life that would be. To us, poverty seems like such a distant issue, but in reality, it is happening right before our eyes. Yes, even people in Canada suffer from poverty! All around the world this issue strikes us, and what do we do? Sure, there are organizations out there, but most only help with coping being in poverty, not helping people get out of it- there are only a few out there to help those suffering people conquer poverty and move on with their lives. The poverty in Africa leads to many violations of human rights as people struggle to have a sufficient home and amount of food/ water to eat. Africa holds twenty-two of the top thirty-six poorest countries in the world! As you can see, poverty in Africa not only is a major issue today, but is a growing issue for future generations and if we don't stop it now, who knows how far this issue will go...
The purpose of my blog is to create awareness on poverty in Africa. I hope that my blog can influence people to make change towards the issue by donating money, taking action themselves, and also creating awareness. If they create awareness, they could enforce the two types of change listed above, and enforce others to create awareness, and then again, and again. I believe that the first step to curing any problem, is being aware that it's there- which is just what I hope my blog will do.

Global Citizen: Explanation and Importance
What is a global citizen? Is it someone who works to make the world better? Or is it someone on a lower status that works as an activist to make their own community better for the environment (which could still impact globally)? A global citizen shows prominent actions to make their community more habitable, preferable, and suitable for their fellow citizens- whether it be on a local, or global scale. The importance of being a global citizen is huge! We have to maintain our globalized world in order to raise the standard of living as a global community. Take our poverty issue for example; the countries that suffer severe poverty would not be able to move forward without the help of global citizens. People and organizations that help out these developing countries and communities are all example of global citizens. It is very important for our world to have global citizens as it helps keep our world globalized, and helps to ensure the development of our world will move at a steady rate.
